I'm generally a fairly positive person anyway but there's lots to feel positive about in the Give It world at the moment.
Firstly, registrations for weddings this year are looking good, including a couple already for The African Wedding List.
Secondly, we're beginning to see a return to the sorts of wedding gift values that we saw in our first few years (i.e. before Autumn 2008). Naturally we're happy with any value of gift through a wedding list, but it would be great to think that we could generate a similar spend per gift to that which would have happened on a 'traditional' list - we do get the occasional couple let us know they were a little disappointed to not generate more through their list. Naturally we reassure them that anything is a great bonus to the charities but I can see where they're coming from.
Thirdly, we're still adding charities to keep the choices growing (although still needing to do this slowly - there's a limit to how many we should have on each service as we grow - pointless just splitting what we can generate between more charities - we need to grow the pot for them all first). Mind are the latest to go live (earlier today); if you're not about to get married, and so can't add them to your wedding list, you could always send someone a birthday present -take a look at their gift selection here on Gifts4Good. Still a few more charities to add...
Fourthly, we've had some great support for The Scottish Wedding List from a variety of wedding fairs in Scotland this season - it's a great feeling to know you're not on your own and that others in the industry are inspired by what we're trying to do, enough to help.
Finally (yes it's a chocka month), and this one cuts both ways, I've finally got back to work - after my year out after double pneumonia it's good to be back in the thick of it. It's always great to take on another challenge (I'm back working for another charity), but does mean that I have to be a bit more disciplined with myself when I get home from work and crack on with Give It stuff, and to try and not work too much at weekends!
